#138 WHAT TO DO WITH VERTIGO
Dizziness or vertigo can be a debilitating condition, that very few doctors have answers for. We have treated many patients in the West Bend, WI area for vertigo and have learned a lot about it over the years.
The 5 main causes that we have come to see at GSC are:
- Crystals getting dislodged and falling into the canal. This is called BPPV. For this cause, the Epley maneuver is very effective. Any chiropractor or physical therapist can do this for you. I am not recommending this, but you could watch a YouTube video and have a friend do it to you, as well.
- Cervicogenic vertigo is due to the head and neck being out of alignment and the brain getting improper proprioceptive input from joints that are out of alignment. This is the type of vertigo we help all the time, with NUCCA.
- Dehydration can cause dizziness, especially if you are on blood pressure medications. This should get better with hydration.
- Dizziness is a common side effect of many medications and from being on multiple medications at the same time. For this, reducing the amount of drugs you are taking is the answer.
- Inner ear damage can cause vertigo and unfortunately, many times, this can be permanent.
If you are suffering from vertigo, I hope this helps you find answers and eases your suffering.
